Winter is a great time to visit Japan to experience winter festivals near Tokyo
The days are shorter which means there are many mind blowing illuminations and cool snow/ice events to experience.
Also the winter is a great time to visit a Onsen resorts or go Skiing and Snowboarding. There are many beginner-friendly ski resorts north of Tokyo to check out even if you’ve never been skiing.
Additionally I personally find Ramen to taste the best during the colder winter!
Finally, if you are visiting Japan in December it can get a bit chilly so we recommend bringing a set of warm clothes, and if you are visiting in January or February a warm coat or a jacket is going to be essential.
