Tonoike Sake Brewery

Based in Mashiko, a famous pottery town, Tonoike Sake Brewery is a popular family-run brewery. Visitors can enjoy learning about sake making and try different sakes in Mashiko pottery cups.

Watanabesahei Sake Brewery

The seventh-generation owner of this brewery spent some time in Australia, so a lot of the information is available in English. He also offers brewery tours in English, but these are very popular so please book in advance.

Shimazaki Sake Brewery

Also known as ‘The Cave Brewery’, Shimazaki brewery produces fresh sake as well as aging the world’s finest vintage sakes in hillside caves which were originally dug out during WW2.

Katayama shuzo

Founded in 1880, Katayama Shuzo is located in the foothills of Nikko. This small traditional brewery is the only sake brewery to brew the official sake for the All Blacks (NZ Rugby team)!
