Motegi Town is 2 hours and 45 minutes from Tokyo and is a beautiful countryside with several unique highlights.
If you like beautiful nature, you won’t want to miss the magical Mitsumata flowers blooming in March. If you have children, you can take the Locomotive Steam Train, which runs on the Moka Railway on Weekends from Shimodate Station through Moka and Mashiko towns. You may also want to take children to Honda Mobility Resort, which has a large amusement park with rides, mazes, adventure play areas, and nature trails, as well as a western-style hotel and Gramping site.
If you are into motorbike and car racing, the Honda Mobility Resort also includes an international racing circuit (formerly Twin Ring Motegi) that hosts world-class racing several times a year. You can also enjoy seeing the Honda Collection Hall, which has an extensive collection of racing cars, consumer cars, motorbikes, bicycles, and mobility machines made by Honda.
The easiest way to get to Motegi Station from Tokyo depends on the time of day, so it’s best to use a transit planner such as this. If there is a bus at the time you want to travel, the quickest way would be to take the Shinkansen to Utsunomiya Station and take the bus to Motegi (2.5 hours). Another route is to take the Moka railway from Shimodate Station.
If you are driving, the closest interchange is Tomobe Interchange (IC) or Moka Interchange (IC), depending on which direction you are coming from.
