After having a look at the characteristics and historical background of Oya Stone, you will be allowed to touch it and weigh it. Then, you will have free time to walk around and take pictures. ※The museum closes at 17:00 during normal business hours.

Oya History Museum

The Oya History Museum is a huge underground space created by the excavation of Oya stone, which took place for about 70 years since 1919. The temperature is maintained at an annual average of 8 degrees Celsius, and the 20,000-square-meter space is large enough to hold two soccer fields, making it a giant refrigerator in a way.　Today, it is used as a concert venue, art exhibition place, and wedding ceremony space with a mystical atmosphere. Because of its fantastic scenery, it is also used as a movie and music video shooting location. When entering the museum, you are free to take pictures within the area, so take as many as you want!

*Please note, tripods are not allowed in the facility.

It was a beautiful sight with a mysterious atmosphere I had never seen before.

I had fun because there are many great photo spots.

The Bamboo Grove at Wakayama Farm

The farm has a 1.5-kilometer-long walking path where visitors can see various kinds of bamboo up close and touch them. Wakayama Farm cultivates various types of bamboos, such as “madake,” “moso,” and “pale” bamboos, which have been growing naturally in Japan since ancient times. A walking path has been established to allow visitors to see them up close and touch them. On weekend nights throughout the year, the bamboo grove is lit up, and visitors can enjoy the beautiful lights and bamboo lanterns. In this tour, you can enjoy this special space even more by dining outside. Enjoy local sake and a dinner made by local chefs using seasonal ingredients.

It’s a charming place with a typical Japanese atmosphere thanks to the bamboos.

It was very relaxing to be surrounded by bamboos and have a 360-degree view of them.

It was so special to be able to touch the bamboos and walk among them.
