1. mr. kanso
If you’re looking to experiment, mr. kanso is the place to go. This little venue is unique in that all food is canned food, and they’ve got a huge variety from across the world! Come with friends and don’t be afraid to experiment! Approx. 20 min walk from Utsunomiya Station, or a 5 min walk from Tobu-Utsunomiya Station.

Yakiniku Great is a yakiniku BBQ restaurant. Yakiniku is a Japanese style barbeque, where various meats and vegetables are brought to your table where you can cook them to your tastes! It’s a great spot if you want to feed a group! Approx. 20 min walk from Utsunomiya Station, or a 10 min walk from Tobu-Utsunomiya Station.
4. Ramen Hibari
Ramen Hibari is a popular local Ramen Shop specializing in chicken stock Ramen (Torisoba) which starts from 800 yen. Ramen Hibari also offers healthier options where you can choose rice noodles (less than half the calories!) and Cold tomato ramen available in the summer. Approx. 20 min walk from Utsunomiya Station, or a 5 min walk from Tobu-Utsunomiya Station.
5. PIYO PIZZA
Are you a Pizza lover? Piyo Pizza will not let you down. Its a small pizza restaurant on a corner tucked away off the main street but don’t let this fool you. Their hand-made doe is so amazing, most customers are local regulars who keep coming back for more! Approx. 15 min walk from Utsunomiya Station, or a 15 min walk from Tobu-Utsunomiya Station.

Blue Magic is the best kept secret of local expats. It is a small brewery located in the center of Utsunomiya and offers unique craft beer you cannot drink anywhere else. If you are a craft beer enthusiast make sure not to miss this place! Approx. 20 min walk from Utsunomiya station, or a 5 min walk from Tobu-Utsunomiya Station.
