Getting from JR Utsunomiya Station to the Center of the City
If you travel from the taxi stand at the west exit of JR Utsunomiya Station, it is roughly a 1.2-km one-way trip to Futaarayama Shrine, the symbol of the city. Tell the driver you are going to “Futaarayama Jinja.”
If you are traveling from the taxi stand at the east exit of JR Utsunomiya Station, it is best to tell the driver the name of the restaurant. There are no taxi stands around jazz bars, so please ask the staff to arrange a taxi for you. (If you order a car, you will be charged a maximum of 500 yen as boarding fee in addition to the fare.)
A Taxi Stand in the Center of Utsunomiya
There is one official taxi stand in the center of town, run by the Tochigi Prefecture Taxi Association. It is located in front of the Otorii (Great Gate) of Futaarayama Shrine, the symbol of Utsunomiya, and is a good landmark to remember, so check it out!
