In this month’s newsletter, we are featuring ‘Kinugawa Onsen’ in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.

Kinugawa Onsen is a very popular onsen (hot spring) village, part of Nikko City, located 30 min from Central Nikko. Onsen enthusiasts come from around Japan to stay in its many Japanese Ryokans and enjoy the effects of the natural hot springs.

For a quieter area, the Kawaji Onsen is another popular hot spring area 10km upstream from Kinugawa Onsen.

Night Cherry Blossom Festival in
Kinugawa Onsen

2024 : Early April

Every year for a week in early April, when the cherry blossoms are in their full bloom, the sakura trees in Gokoku shrine and the Onsen shrine are lit up for visitors to experience a mystical atmosphere and enjoy Japanese traditional festival ️music, as well as traditional performances by local geisha ladies.
