Uncovering Japan Beyond the Capital
Planning a trip to Japan can be overwhelming, especially when trying to avoid the crowds. Every traveller has different interests, so discovering hidden gems, especially ones that are not in guidebooks or found in LLMs, can be hard. That’s why we created Nearby Tokyo. The perfect alternative to the overcrowded ‘Golden Route’ to Kyoto.
Step away from the crowded tourist tracks to discover a world of centuries-old sake breweries, steaming hot spring villages, and living artisan traditions thriving right on Tokyo’s doorstep.
We created Nearby Tokyo because a truly unforgettable trip to Japan requires stepping away from generic, over-congested tourist loops.
Operated by Japan World Link Ltd., we use our local expertise to do the heavy lifting for both independent travellers and global travel agents, helping them easily plan personalised, crowd-free journeys.
By mapping out smooth logistics, local secrets, and hidden gems across Tochigi, Gunma, Ibaraki, and Saitama Prefectures, we make it effortless to trade crowded city platforms for deeply rewarding, authentic regional adventures.
"To truly understand rural Japan, you need a local’s eyes. To make it accessible to the world, you need a global perspective."
Angus
Being half-British and half-Japanese, I grew up right here in Tochigi Prefecture, developing a native’s deep understanding of our region’s hidden paths, historic sake breweries, and artisan traditions. But after spending 15 years living and working in London, I also gained a clear insight into the exact standards, logistical needs, and cultural preferences that global travelers and international agents look for.
I created Nearby Tokyo to be a genuine liaison. By combining my local roots with global travel trade experience, we help visitors comfortably navigate the breathtaking countryside of Tochigi, Gunma, Ibaraki, and Saitama, while actively supporting the passionate local vendors who keep our traditions alive.
