Area Overview
Chichibu area in Saitama prefecture is located about 2 hours north-west of Tokyo. It is known for its beverages, including wine, Japanese sake and whisky as well as its rich nature, shrines and anime.
It is convenient to get to either by train or car from Tokyo, with the “Lavie – Red Arrow Limited Express Train” offering breathtaking views and a unique travel experience. It also has many seasonal events including festivals, flower shows and in winter, a frozen illuminated waterfall!

Wine, Whisky and Sake
Chichibu area is a great place to visit if you love a glass of wine or a cup of sake, as the town has a long brewing history.
In fact, you can find four sake breweries, two wineries, a beer brewery and even a whisky distillery in the area. And you can visit many of them, as they are providing tours as well as tastings.
So if you like to learn more about Japan’s drinks and its culture visiting Chichibu is definitely worth a trip!
