Autumn is a great time to visit Japan!
It is time when the mountains change into beautiful autumn colors and some really interesting culture & historical festivals and events happen near Tokyo. In addition to this page, you may also want to check out our page on best places to see Autumn leaves near Tokyo.
Also, the autumn is a great time to visit an Onsen resort or or go Cycling or Hiking. If you prefer indoors, it is also a good time to visit a Nature museum. There is a saying in Japan ‘Shokuyoku no Aki’ which means ‘Autumn appetite’. This is because there is an abundance of fresh ingredients (vegetables, fish and meat) available in the autumn and it is the best time to eat delicious locally sourced food.
Finally, if you are visiting Japan in November it sometimes get chilly in the evening, so we advise to bring a warm jumper or buy something in Japan at places like UNIQLO.
